Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting (HLT43307)

If you are currently working in the health industry and would like a career providing variety and great opportunities for advancement, then Medical Practice Assisting is ideal for you.

Medical Practice Assisting was developed by General Practice staff and is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to perform both administrative tasks as well as assisting with clinical procedures within the practice.

CRITERIA

This is an open entry program for people working in the medical reception field.  You are required to have an average level of spoken and written English and numeracy skills.  Students less than 18 years of age must have parental/guardian approval.

DURATION

This is a study from home course.  You have 12 months to complete this qualification. The course consists of approximately 968 Nominal hours. This is a self paced course.  As everybody has different levels of abilities in different subjects there is no set time frame for individual modules to be completed.  We will continually monitor your progress to ensure that you are completing your work and to help you stay motivated. 

TRAINING METHOD

All students will receive a training folder designed to hold all your manuals.  So as to not overwhelm students 2 to 3 modules are sent at any one time.  Your progress is monitored continuously and regular contact will be made with you to help keep you motivated.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

All students will undertake written assessments.  We may also conduct competency conversations (one of our staff will contact you and ask you questions on a completed module) as well as requesting supervisor reports, and portfolios.

SUPPORT SERVICES

Medical Administration Training provides training support at any time during business hours via phone or email.  

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

This is a process where students may be granted credit towards a qualification in recognition of their prior skills or knowledge gained through other training courses or work experience.  This process requires students to gather evidence of their skills.  Please contact our staff if you believe you may be eligible.

  • HLTMAMP409A: Handle specimens in a medical practice

  • HLTOHS300A: Contribute to OHS processes
  • HLTCOM407A: Provide reception services for a practice
  • HLTAP401A: Confirm physical health status
  • HLTHIR404C: Work effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
  • HLTHIR403B: Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers
  • BSBMED302A: Prepare and process medical accounts
  • HLTCSD306B: Respond effectively to difficult or challenging behaviour
  • BSBMED305B: Apply the principles of confidentiality, privacy and security within the medical environment

COURSE FEES: $3500
