Medical Administration Training provides a most contemporary course in medical reception and medical terminology. The following information is a summary of a number of issues related to the course and seeks to address a number of questions which commonly arise from our clients.
The course is held over 2 Saturdays from 8.30am till 5pm on each of these days.
Yes, you can. Medical Administration Training’s policy is to provide what is known as RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning). Briefly, you must supply evidence to Medical Administration Training relating to one or both of the subjects you believe you may be exempt from studying on the basis of previous experience or study. The organisation’s standard enrolment fee of $495.00 for the units of competency will be levied by Medical Administration Training for this assessment of your application. The advantage for any person if successful in RPL is the time saved from attending class for that particular unit. Please note that exemption tests based on the set assessment for the course together with your experience statements will normally be applied. From the receipt of application for RPL the response will be advised within fourteen days.
Our programme incorporates the use of role plays and work place simulations, as well as oral and written assessments. Students will also be required to review course work materials and complete exercises in their own time (approximately two to three hours per week).
Medical Administration Training seeks to be inclusive and this includes the training of women, the training of people with disabilities, the training of single parents, the training of people from non-English speaking backgrounds, and indigenous Australians. No client will be disadvantaged on any of the following grounds.
Medical Administration Training supports Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO) in all areas of business endeavour.
Yes, Medical Administration Training recognises other qualifications issued by other RTO’s. Application for mutual recognition of qualifications must be made in writing, together with evidence of completion of units of competency. Medical Administration Training will determine an outcome for recognition within fourteen days of receipt of application.
Generally, we find this is an exceptional circumstance as attendance at class is a requirement for the achievement of competency. However, because assessment is conducted and completed on a weekly basis, the client may attend a subsequent course at no financial or academic loss (usually the next month) on that particular evening which addresses that assessment.
Medical Administration Training is a Registered Employment Agency and can therefore assist with employment opportunities for our students. Our Employment Services are only offered to students who have completed our Medical Secretary Course. An Employment Registration Form is enclosed and should be forwarded along with the Enrolment form for the Medical Secretary Course.
By successfully completing the course with MAT, you have already made yourself “job ready” and will be in a position to address criteria often applied by the health industry e.g. have you done any study in this area? Or, how do you have knowledge of this field? Additionally, you have demonstrated significant personal initiative through your enrolment and this, combined with what you have learned through MAT’s course, increases your prospects of employment.
It is recommended that students have an average level of written and spoken English and numeracy to successfully complete these units of competency. Should a student be identified as experiencing difficulties with these skills, then MAT will provide information and guidance to the student regarding measures to gain these skills to successfully complete the course.
Please remember that this document is only a summary of commonly asked questions, and so you are encouraged to ask questions directly of your trainer/instructors prior to class during the training course or prior to enrolment. Your tutors are more than happy to offer further assistance and guidance as required throughout your course.
